The Jupiter Tequesta Repeater Group has been in existence since 1982, and the past two years easily have been the two busiest.
'Absolutely,' said Al Moreschi of Jupiter Farms, the group's president. 'That's probably due to the hurricanes. But we have a lot of activities going on and we help out a lot in the community.'
The area ham radio operators have staffed hurricane shelters in northern Palm Beach County, including William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens and Independence Middle School in Jupiter. They've participated in food drives and parades. They host an annual field day in late June during which they try to make as many contacts around the world in a 24-hour period, all under emergency conditions."

Code may be taking a back seat for now,
but the pioneering spirit that put the code
there in the first place is out front of it all.
