McALLEN Armed with a bar of soap, toothpaste and extra sets of clothes, Rio Grande Regional Hospital pharmacy director Gabby Garza boarded a flight to the unknown Thursday afternoon.
He and 18 hospital employees and associates volunteered to go to Houston to offer medicine, staff support and technical assistance to hospitals affected by Hurricane Rita.
'If theyre asking us for help, theres no reason not to go,' Garza said via cell phone en route to Valley International Airport in Harlingen."
